Let's Go Giants...

... beat the Dodgers! And luckily we did, when I got to go to the Giants vs. LA Dodgers game this Tuesday night. I have never been to game where San Francisco has won before, and to have them beat my least favorite team in all of baseball, I was quite excited. I know that sounds rather harsh, especially from someone who grew up in Southern California, but I can't really help it. I was raised to be a Giants fan by a group of San Francisco natives; it's in my blood!

One of the perks of the game was that, because it was an outing through our academic institute, we did not have to pay for our tickets. Yes, that means we got to go see the reigning World Champions for free! The only downside was that we were in the nosebleeds. Scratch that, we were in the nosebleeds of the nosebleeds, on the very top row. But it was an exciting game to watch, so we willing braved the hundreds of steps and the freezing gusts of wind.

I was pleased and surprised to see fans of the two different teams behaving well and respecting each other. The Giants fan that was beaten shortly after attending a Giants - Dodgers game in Los Angeles is unfortunately still in an induced coma. Before their series opener on Monday, the two teams came together to support the injured fan and his family, and encouraged fans to respect the team rivalry but not to act on it. Visiting the Rock

Happy weekend, everyone! Hopefully the weather is treating you well wherever you may be. It's beautifully sunny here in San Francisco, but the entire campus has turned into one big wind tunnel. I've almost been blown over on quite a few occasions!

It was also very windy yesterday, when my dad took my brother and I on a little excursion to Alcatraz. They are in the city for a big family party this weekend, and I've been trying to spend as much time with them as possible while I can. It was my first visit to Alcatraz prison, and I was not prepared for how beautiful it is! I was expecting creepy and foreboding, not beautiful and somewhat breathtaking. The landscape and ambiance there is just... well, I think these pictures may do them more justice.

Twitter News!

Due to the lateness of the hour, this is going to be a very short post. But I thought I'd just like to share with you all some very exciting news.

I have followers on Twitter!

I logged into Twitter for the first time in a while today, and saw (to my utter astonishment and joy) that I now have three followers! Okay, so I'll admit that one of them is me on a joint account I have with my friends, but still. I am entertaining or interesting enough that two people I don't even know want to follow what I have to say. Score! I just got one (or two steps closer) to internet notoriety. Which, don't get me wrong, is not why I do stuff like this. Though it would be nice.

Needless to say, I shouldn't really start getting excited until I get 100 or so followers, but I'm a small-step-glass-half-full type of person. I get excited about the small things in life.
