This one's a bit of a throwback to my 30 Day Drawing Challenge from 2012.  Looking back at the Challenge posts has reminded me how much fun it was.  Hm, maybe I'll do another one sometime this year...

30DDC: Days 7-10

I cannot believe I missed a whole three days of drawings!  I became unexplainably, unexpectedly busy the last couple of days, and consequently spent tonight and last night trying to catch up.  So, without further ado, here you are!

Day 7: Favorite Word

Day 8: Favorite Animated Character - Bumble Bee from Transformers.  And yes, I did spell his name wrong, but I think my improvised "M" looks gangster.

Day 9: Favorite TV Show - BBC Sherlock!  Now, as you can see, I haven't been lying to you.  People are not my strong suit!  Poor Martin, I totally got his face wrong...

Day 10:  Favorite Candy - York Peppermint Patties, in the style of Andy Warhol.

In other words, I had a masterclass today by at the San Francisco Maritime with plainair artist Larry Horowitz.  It was so much fun, and a real learning experience.  You should google his work if you get a chance; he's got an amazing sense of sky!

Challenge Yourself

Happy Hump Day, everyone.  I am well into the swing of things back on campus, and am loving it.  Either I'm being more efficient than last semester, or I have a lot less work, because I've been finding myself with a lot more extra time than I've ever had before while going to school.  Don't get me wrong, I do plenty.  I have at least two classes every weekday, I work two days a week, sing in one of the student choirs every week, and am continuing rehab on my knee.  Never the less, I still find myself wondering if I should pick up another hobby or something.

Now, I've posted a bit of my art over the past year and a half.  I've recently met someone who's challenged me to think about taking it from simply a hobby to an actual business.  Before I do that, I feel like I need to change it up a bit, use more variety, things like that.  So when I Stumbled (yes, I did just use the website as a verb) across this yesterday, I couldn't have been more thrilled with the idea.

I am going to do this 30 Day Drawing Challenge.  And yes, today technically would have been the best day to start, seeing as it's the first of the month and all.  Oh well.  You should know me well enough by now to know that I'm a bit of a procrastinator.  Anyways, I'll be posting my daily drawings, so keep checking back!

Twitter News!

Due to the lateness of the hour, this is going to be a very short post. But I thought I'd just like to share with you all some very exciting news.

I have followers on Twitter!

I logged into Twitter for the first time in a while today, and saw (to my utter astonishment and joy) that I now have three followers! Okay, so I'll admit that one of them is me on a joint account I have with my friends, but still. I am entertaining or interesting enough that two people I don't even know want to follow what I have to say. Score! I just got one (or two steps closer) to internet notoriety. Which, don't get me wrong, is not why I do stuff like this. Though it would be nice.

Needless to say, I shouldn't really start getting excited until I get 100 or so followers, but I'm a small-step-glass-half-full type of person. I get excited about the small things in life.

Cup of Doodles

As of late, my friends and I have found ourselves embodying the college student stereotype and falling in love with Starbucks. Whether we're getting tea, coffee, frappuccinos, we tend to get way too excited for a trip to the local store. It's well worth the three block walk.

I still haven't found time to sit down and do a big drawing, or write something spectacular, or anything else for that matter. With all the reading I have, it's a wonder I even get to writing here once or twice a week! But, last night, while taking a short break, I turned one of our beloved Starbucks cups into a work of art.

Little Happenings

This weekend was full of little happenings that added up to one very good time. Saturday was game one of the National League Championships between the Giants and the Phillies, and I went over to my grandparent's house to watch the game. Most of the family was there, and we made hot dogs, chili, chips and guacamole... It was the baseball fan's paradise. Complete with ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert. My little cousins took to following me around for part of the night, and they even helped me with ideas for this drawing of mine. I think it turned out pretty good, don't you?

The best part of the night? Was it hanging with my family, watching the talented and adorable Tim Lincecum blow away the competition, or eating good food? The best part was that the Giants won!

Today was our first rainy day of the year. I went for a little walk in the rain to pick up some groceries, but for the most part every one just bummed around the dorm in sweatpants and slippers, trying to find the motivation to actually do our homework. And unfortunately, the Giants lost by five whole runs.

Hopefully they get their game back by Tuesday!
