Where Does the Time Go?

Well, we've been back for a whole week already, and I'm already wondering where all my time has gone. I'm dying to get back to doing something creative and decided to pull out this picture from over break. I had decided that I wanted to crochet something, and later that day this hat was born! It got a little funky towards the end (I probably should have ended it sooner), but my brother doesn't seem to care.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to fulfill my need for creativity by adding more pictures to my wall. The collage has gotten so big that it doesn't fit in one frame anymore!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Sunset

New Semester and New Years Resolutions

I'm back in the city by the bay for a new semester. I'm missing being home already, but the sunny weather is making the transition a little bit easier. Here are some photos from my last few days at home.

I've brought with me a few New Years Resolutions, and I'm off to a surprisingly good start! I've resolved to get back to being more environmentally friendly. That means I've pulled out my old, personalized canteen so that I can cut back on my water bottle use. I'm trying to be better about using canvas shopping bags, but when I end up with paper bags, I'm making an effort to reuse them as trash bags. All the little things I do (plus not owning and driving a car) will help make a difference.

My other resolutions include getting rid of my bad habit of chewing my nails, and getting into the habit of writing more. Oh, yes, and paying my blog a little bit more attention.

Here's to new beginnings!

Welcome, 2011!

Whoever thought up paper grocery bags without handles was an idiot. I know this sounds random, but bear with me for a second. Why would a bag that is supposed to be carrying milk, eggs, produce, and the like not have handles? Keep in mind that these are all things that generally people do not want to drop and have spill all over the floor, which is typically what happens when one is carrying (or trying to carry) three handle-less bags.

My family generally tries to bring our own reusable bags to the grocery store, but on occasion we forget. Today just happened to be one of those days, and add rain to the situation and the dumb paper bags didn't stand a chance. Luckily, they didn't rip until we were already inside the house.

Anyways, I hope you all had a great New Years. It was rather sunny yesterday, so my family and I (being the non-traditionalists that we are) spent the day at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. It was a nice drive up, with few cars on the road, classic rock, and enough sunshine to satisfy everyone. We beat the crowds to the Aquarium, and were leaving by the time the rest of the world decided to show up.

The sea horses have always been my favorite part of the Aquarium, but my little cousin (who we had with us) was more fond of the sharks and sting rays, as he could actually touch them. This car, while obviously not on display at the Aquarium, was one of the many gorgeous old cars we saw while driving along the coast.

It's 2011, folks! Let's make it worth something!
